What matters can a Justice of the Peace assist with?

Depending on the level of authority (as detailed on the first page - that is, whether the matter is for Queensland, the Commonwealth etc.) services provided by a Justice of the Peace may include:

  • witnessing people signing documents as prescribed by law, including:
    • statutory declarations
    • wills
    • affidavits
    • Powers of Attorney, Advanced Health Directives
    • documents dealing with land titles.
    • Family Law forms (Commonwealth matter)
  • certifying copies of documents as true copies
    • the original document must always be provided.
** An Australian Justice of the Peace cannot provide legal advice. I am always happy to assist in researching where you may find information and assistance.
